Nach dem Tod seines Vaters kehrt der Lehrer Radu aus Bukarest wieder in das Dorf seiner Geburt zurück, um die Beerdigung zu organisieren. Die Roma-Siedlung, die aus desolaten und baufälligen Hütten besteht, liegt direkt neben einer riesigen apokalyptischen Müllhalde: es gibt hier kein Wasser, keinen Strom oder sanitäre Anlagen. Der Ort und die Szenerie erinnern an die Pestzeit im Mittelalter. Unter den Einheimischen wird er zynisch „Dallas“ genannt...
